The latest from TechCrunch:The newest in the world of surveillance cameras is a “highway safety camera” that can detect drivers in cars without their knowledge.
The video is being tested on a couple of cars in the Idaho highway, the latest in a line of autonomous, self-driving vehicles that have hit the roads.
The cameras are part of a larger effort by Microsoft to build a self-contained cloud for monitoring all of the sensors in its cloud.
Microsoft says the cameras are meant to help safety regulators monitor highway activity and help the government catch drunk drivers and other illegal drivers.
The company plans to roll the cameras out to public roads around the country over the next few months.
