A military highway police car crashed into a Walmart store in Florida and then a truck and then another on Monday afternoon, leaving one person dead, authorities said.
Police said the crash occurred at a Walmart in St. Petersburg, about 80 miles south of Orlando.
The vehicle was carrying five officers, who were responding to reports of a person in a vehicle on the highway, said Sgt. Jason Brown, a police spokesman.
When the officers arrived, they saw a vehicle coming at them from a different direction, Brown said.
The officers, in a squad car, approached the vehicle, which was in the wrong lane, and stopped the vehicle.
When they got out of the squad car and walked over to the vehicle that was stopped, the vehicle struck the police vehicle.
All five officers and one passenger were killed.
The vehicle and its occupants were transported to a hospital in Jacksonville.
