The California Department of Transportation says it will temporarily close major highways in the western part of the state.
The agency says it plans to close the following bridges: Highway 488 in Los Angeles County, Highway 489 in Riverside County, Interstate 5 in San Bernardino County, and Interstate 551 in San Francisco County.
The state’s highways are divided into three lanes for traffic, according to the agency.
Drivers can continue on I-5, I-15 and Interstate 880, but the bridges will be closed.
The California Department for Transportation said it was aware of a series of accidents on the highways over the last two years.
It said that in February of this year, a man was killed in a tractor-trailer when a car he was in struck a guardrail.
In November, two people were killed in another crash.
