Driver of an SUV that crashed into a Blue Highway pizza restaurant and a Jeep that flipped over in the parking lot of a Walmart in the Alameda County city of Dalton on Thursday morning had been traveling at 85 mph, officials said.
The SUV, which was traveling eastbound on the Dalton Highway, struck the Jeep at about 4:30 a.m., according to a statement from the California Highway Patrol.
The driver of the SUV was transported to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
No passengers or occupants of the Jeep were injured.
The vehicle was found abandoned on the shoulder of the highway, with no damage to the vehicle or the property, the CHP said.
No one else was injured, officials added.
Investigators are looking into the cause of the crash and whether the vehicle was damaged.
